Q&A WITH LIGHTING DOYEN DAWN KIDD

I am passionate about lighting!

Many of you have heard me ramble on about the effect of lighting and the importance of getting it right. What you may not know is that it’s not just a passion of mine, but is practically in my DNA . . .

Some of my earliest and fondest childhood memories are of attending design functions and parties, socialising with designers and architects, being taken to site visits to resolve lighting plans and selections, meeting Mark Newson and Ross Lovegrove long before I understood their importance in the design landscape.

This wonderful introduction to the design world – in particular lighting – was thanks to my stepmother, Dawn Kidd, who is not only a very stylish lady, but also the doyen of lighting in Australia.

Dawn started her incandescent career in lighting some 35 years ago running Lightmakers, then setting up Lightwise which later became Euroluce Lighting. Dawn has been the go-to source for interior designers, architects and homemakers for many years. Her passion for lighting and design is contagious and she has certainly helped shape many designers and given them an enviable education in lighting.

Over her career Dawn has been a regular at the Milan Fair, gracing openings and magazines, hungry to get to new products and showcase the latest in trends and style.

After a illustrious 35 year career, this week Dawn retires from Euroluce with an enviable lighting collection, lifelong clients and friends.

Thank you for the memories Dawn!
